Spectacular Birding Moments with Mr. Abraham at Lutembe Bay & Entebbe Botanical Gardens

What a phenomenal birding adventure we recently enjoyed with Mr. Abraham an ethusiastic Birder from the UAE! This trip was guided by our birding team, Allan Ochen, Blessed Isaac Olupot and Linda also known as ‘African Skimmer’ this trip was filled with fun, discovery, and amazing sightings.

Our morning began at the legendary Lutembe Bay, a Ramsar-listed wetland and a true birding gem. From the moment we arrived, the bay was alive with birdlife and activity. The waterbirds didn’t disappoint, as we recorded fantastic species such as:

• African Skimmer—always a thrilling sight, gliding effortlessly over the water
• Black Heron, seen demonstrating its unique umbrella-feeding behavior
• Grey-headed Gull, in pristine breeding plumage
• Long-tailed Cormorant, gracefully diving and fishing in the shallows
• Grey Kestrel, spotted perched as it scanned the grasslands

Mr. Abraham’s bird of the day at Lutembe was the African Skimmer, seen on the wetlands, along with the elegant Black Heron. The excitement and joy were unmistakable as we shared sightings, bird calls, and photography tips in the refreshing lakeside breeze.

The adventure continued into the afternoon at the serene Entebbe Botanical Gardens, where birding became even more magical. The gardens’ towering trees and flowering bushes welcomed us with lively birdsong and fluttering wings. Key highlights included:

• Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, our undisputed bird of the evening!
• Congo Pied Hornbill, seen in playful pairs
• African Harrier Hawk, gliding through the tree canopy
• African Grey Parrot, a special sighting for us as this species also represents our company emblem
• Black-headed Paradise Flycatcher, dazzling with its long, trailing tail
• Bright, bustling weavers including Orange Weaver and Little Weaver, busy in their nests

The atmosphere throughout the trip was vibrant and interactive filled with plenty of shared laughter, engaging bird talks, and enthusiastic discussions about conservation and Uganda’s rich biodiversity. Mr. Abraham’s passion for birds was infectious, making it a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved.

We wrapped up the day in true Ugandan style with an evening meal at The Rolex Guy, enjoying Uganda’s favorite street food, the Rolex along with a delicious selection of other local treats. It was the perfect way to relax, reflect, and celebrate a day packed with incredible bird sightings and great camaraderie.
